“Mom – I don’t want to go to Kindergarten anymore.”

“Mom – I don’t want to go to kindergarten anymore” “Mom – I don’t want to go to kindergarten anymore” – a sentence many parents are afraid of. “I would rather be with my family.” These were the original words of my daughter about two months ago. I think it was on a Sunday night before going to bed. When I heard that, all the alarm bells were ringing for me.  Of course, I asked why she did not want to go to kindergarten, but I played it down and said something like, “Oh, rubbish – you love your kindergarten and you want to see your friends again…” no reaction, and we did not go deeper into the topic. The private kindergarten Our daughter is now 4.5 years old. At the age of eighteen months, we got her accustomed to kindergarten/daycare. She goes to a private facility in the next neighboring village. The journey takes 10 – 15 minutes depending on traffic. At that time we had no other choice because the childminders were all …

It can happen very fast: pneumonia and bronchitis with infants

It can happen very fast: pneumonia and bronchitis with infants If you do not go to the doctor right away Last weekend, my husband and I had our date night again. The children were allowed to spend a night with their grandparents. What we have done beautiful on the Friday evening, you can read here. When we brought our son (1.5) and our daughter (4) to my parents-in-law in the morning, they both did a great job. A little cough and runny nose has been normal since November of last year. It was not until the evening that the grandmother wrote to us that the little one was not feeling well, but there was no cause for concern. When we came out of the theater I read by SMS that he has a bit of a fever. The children have so many changes in temperature that we decided not to interrupt our evening. I had taken precaution with suppositories. The next morning we went to my parents-in-law to lunch together and pick up the children. …

Behind the scenes

Here are some designs for the mamanille logo. I wanted to have something ‘handmade’. I do not know when I last had pencils, paint and brushes in my hand – only for me. Of course, constantly for the children. It is so much fun. You just have to have more time! At the moment I’m still trying to figure out how to bring the mamanille lettering to a larger size on my homepage (my theme does not allow that because of the fixed size of the header image …). First it was just meant to be the vanilla ice cream, then I added the vanilla blossom. How do you like that?

a new family magazine

Sometimes I take the time to look over the magazine shelf while shopping. Maybe something will catch my eye that is interesting. So I came across the new family magazine of the german Süddeutsche Zeitung – the big smiley and the ‘2 in 1!’ on the cover have pulled with me immediately. Also, the subtitle ‘How to teach children to look after the world’ I found catching. I put the magazine in the shopping cart. I have to say that we do not regularly buy magazines. Most of the time you do not get to read them anyways, and then the paper and your bad conscience pile up. In fact, I read both parts of the magazine completely (even before I had the intention to write about it on a blog!). So if you take off the envelope on the back, you have two separate folders – one for the parents, one for the children (very laudable: it is ad-free). Just pulling apart the two magazines my daughter had fun with, and that she owns …

ballet for both

Last summer we registered our daughter for early dance education. It’s supposed to be the best training to prepare children for sportiness, body consciousness and feeling for rhythm. When she was 3 years old, we have tried classes already, but the interest was not really there yet (although she loved dancing at home in the living room). So we gave it another year to wait. We are in the luxury situation that we could choose between 3 schools in our village: a classic ballet school that teaches by the Russian method (all children must wear the same jersey, hair to the bun, classical music, etc.), a normal one , nice dance school, which offers in addition to the standard dances for adults also children dance (a bit of us kids disco in Robinson Club) as well as a school for creative dance and movement (the kids can wear what they want, varied music, two young teachers playfully contribute to the movements ). Everywhere we have sniffed and actually we liked everything in his own way. …

pure floral pleasure

Pure floral pleasure When my husband goes to his barber on Saturdays, he sometimes brings fresh flowers. Not from the market as you might think, but from the favorite flower shop, which among other things, also created my bridal bouquets beautifully. This time there was a small, round bouquet in white for our middle KPM Fidibus vase. Also a bunch of white parrot tulips, which we find particularly elegant in the KPM Herzform vase.     Here is a small, interesting excursion to the classification of tulips and a link to my article about the movie “Tulip fever” from summer 2017. In tulip breeding at the end of the 19th century, the number of tulip varieties increased steadily. At the same time many tulips were offered under different names. Some varieties are said to have been known under up to six names. The tulips were divided into three groups in the middle of the 16th century after their heyday. Early tulips bloom in mid to late April, mid-early flowering in late April to early May, …

sugar-clowns for carnival

sugar-clowns for carnival For all children it is a huge highlight: the carnival party on Thursday “Schwerdonnerstag” or “Altweiber” in the Kita. On the black board is a list of all sorts of snacks and food posted, for which the parents should register. I would like to see this buffet when it is ready (unfortunately no chance). I write our name to the mini-meatballs, the dry cake and gummy bears. It seems fair to me: bake something, cook / fry a thing, buy a thing. Then it’s Wednesday before Altweiber and I have somehow no time. In such a case, it is in my opinion perfectly fine to go for a safe baking mix from the ‘doctor’. 😉 Small gummy bear bags are still left from the children’s birthday party in November. But I make the meatballs ‘right’ myself. When shopping quickly I find in the baking department colorful sugar clowns, which I can use wonderfully to decorate the mini-cake: stuck – ready. The tin with gummy bears looks a bit empty. Great that we …
